Comments: Bono tells the crowd that U2 hung out with Green Day and Metallica a night earlier and talked about creating a new music festival. Lou Reed is at the show, prompting Larry to sing a bit of Perfect Day before Bono leads the crowd in singing Happy Birthday for a friend named John. He dedicates Pride to the Shriver family. After 'Streets', Bono brings a fan from Poland on stage - a guy who flew 20 hours to be at this show.

Above is a list of the songs played that I found online. It does not correspond exactly to the way I tracked this recording, eg., some spoken word portions were made into separate tracks.
Track 13 is a good place to start disc 2 if you're burning this to cds.
stealth audience recording by Easy Ed about 50 feet from stage edge from directly aligned with left speaker array, standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow taper Daspyknows, who ran Schoeps MK4s > Nbox > Tascam DR-2D 24 Bit 48K
Beyerdynamic CK930 microphones > Naiant Littlebox (custom built preamp and phantom power supply) > Sony PCM-M10 (24 bit 44.1kHz)
USB cable > PC > Sound Forge 10 Pro (normalize by peak levels, export tracks to .wav files) > Trader's Little Helper (level 8 encoding, align on sector boundaries) > flacs, ffp, md5 files
Opening Act(s): Moonalice, Lenny Kravitz
Fellow DIMEr 'danmully' bought me a general admission/field ticket if I'd record this show for him and also paid the extortionist 27.87 € ($40) parking fee. Fortunately we got there pretty early and avoided the traffic jams that were so bad that many ticket holders arrived too late to see the show!
Fellow DIMEr and taper extraordinaire 'daspyknows' recommended the spot to record from and he knew what he was talking about and he and I stood shoulder to shoulder recording under the left speaker stack in a stadium with 70,000 people for FIVE HOURS STRAIGHT. Boy were my feet tired by the middle of U2's set. Was great to meet daspyknows and see him in action and record side by side with him. He has even forgiven me (he says) for elbowing him right in the mic at one point when I was trying to take a picture with my phone. Speaking of pictures, go to Flickr online and search for U2 Oakland and you'll find a ton.
I was pretty sure that 'daspyknows' recording would be better than mine, since he uses Schoeps MK4 mics with an Nbox, but mine is pretty close, so I thought I offer it here. Certainly my recording sounds better in 24 bit than it does in 16 bit, but I'll offer both for the convenience of those who just want to burn discs. I'd never heard U2 before, well I guess their songs may have been on the radio in the background at some point in my life cause I did recognize a couple of them. Daspyknows and I both thought the sound sucked bigtime but the recordings came out quite listenable.
